Congratulations Sara – Midland Masters Champion

Congratulations to Revolution B’s Sara Williams who won the Women’s 40+ title at the Midland Masters last weekend winning all her matches and retaining her England No. 1 position. This follows on from her remaining unbeaten in the Premier Division of the Women’s Veteran British League with ten wins from ten matches at the beginning of October. Sara heads off this weekend to compete in Premier Division of the Women’s Senior British League and we wish her well.

Revolution TTC Looking for New Players

Revolution TTC is looking for all standards of players to join them next season. After a turbulent fifteen months due to Covid-19 the club will be re-opening on Monday 21st June. Club Chairman, John Alsop, said “we have traditionally had a healthy pipeline of juniors coming into the club, through the weekly coaching sessions, wanting to gain match experience in the Bedford League. The Covid-19 epidemic has either put on hold or devastated young player ambitions. Combined with the loss of more senior juniors going off to University the club requires additional players to help support the existing teams.” The club offers seven match tables and up to seven additional practice tables every Monday. Barbara Wright – RIP

Barbara Wright

Sadly, Barbara Wright passed away Monday 6th April 2020 just three weeks after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Perhaps it was coincidence or part of her plan but this was World Table Tennis Day, a sport she came to late in life but one which she loved and to which she devoted the last few years of her life. The club has missed her presence this last season as she struggled with other health issues and we will be extremely lucky to find a long term replacement. A full obituary is published on the Bedford League website. Thank you one and all for so generously contributing to the Barbara Wright Trophy fund which reached over £500 in the read more …

Summer League 2019 Division One – Week 5

Congratulations to the Golden Oldies for winning Division One by fourteen points from their nearest rival. However, it was much closer for second place and, against the seeding, BJT just pipped the Swat Team by one point. Toby Blizard, who has been taking exams for the first four weeks of the league, finally stepped in for Joshua Jeganathan for his first match and just lost out 12-14 in the fifth to the Swat Team’s Geoff Neville after winning the first two sets. However, he caused the damage in his next match when he beat his team mate, Kyle Aston, 11-9 in the fifth after losing the first two sets. BJT’s Ben Dunkley was undefeated in the match and was in read more …

Summer League 2019 Division One – Week 4

Going into the final week Golden Oldies have already secured first place in this division and cannot be overtaken. Second place is all to fight for as current second placed Swat Team take on third placed BJT. Swat Team have been playing under strength these last few weeks without their No. 1 Joe Peckham and they could find themselves on the wrong end of an in form BJT in their final match.

Summer League 2019 Division Two – Week4

With only one more week to go the division appears to be wrapped up for first place by the Smith Cup Dropouts. However, mathematically joint second placed Netunedges and Top Spinners could both achieve joint first place if Top Spinners achieve a maximum 15-0 win against the “Dropouts” and Top Spinners a similar 15-0 against bottom of the table Elstow Belles. So everything still to play for but it could all be decided after the first singles match.
