Revolution Summer League – Week 2
The second week of the Revolution summer league took place on Monday 11th May. Revolution Summer League – Week 1
The Revolution summer league got under way last Monday 27th April at Lincroft School with a sixty five year difference between the youngest and oldest player, truly a sport for all ages. The next round is on Monday 11th May. Division 1: CSC (Buckhurst, Woods) 3 Civil Service (Walden, Craddock) 2; Stevington Strollers (Lake, Charlish) 5 Hearts of Gold (Hart, Hart) 0. Division 2: Elstow Lindas (Hutchings, Fosbrook) 5 Elstow Abbeys (Hogg, Bambury) 0; Llamedos (Newton, Walworthy) 2 Elstow Bunyan (Thompson, Barry) 3; Revving Up (Wright, Nicol) 2 Renaissance (Gibson, Close) 3; Revolution Tigers (Baguley, Aston) 5 Danny’s Angels (Murfitt, Richardson) 0.
Revolution A – a Mountain Too High
The final of the Smith Cup handicapped competition took place at Elstow TTC on Monday 27th April. Division 1 winners this season, Revolution A, had to give away 198 points to the Division 3 winners Bedford Community A. Revolution’s Olivier Autin played at the top of his game using his power and spin serves to full effect and kept his matches to below the handicap. However, it all proved too much for his team mates and the Bedford Community A team of Martin Lewis, Fes Feshastion and Emilio Peire won by 72 points to win the trophy for the first time.
Revolution B Clinch Plate Final
Congratulations to the Revolution B team comprising Ian Baldock, Owen Hewett and Charlie Brinicombe, who had to give away 99 points to the Division 3 runners-up, St Neots E in the final of the Plate competition. Revolution had to win by better than 11-8 a game to win the match. After 32 games the St Neots team of Alan Carter, Bev Watts and David Horsler had fought hard and won seven and lost five of them only by 10-11. So going into the last single’s match they were 13 points ahead which meant Revolution’s Baldock had to keep St Neot’s Carter down to less than eight points a game to win the match. Revolution A & B Teams Through to the Final of Smith Cup & Plate Competitions
Congratulations to the A and B teams who won their respective semi-final matches to make it through to the finals this Monday 27th April at Elstow TTC. The B team consisting of Ian Baldock, Owen Hewett and Henry Simmons beat Stevington B by 15 points and the A team consisting of Keith McConnell, Dave Beddall and Olivier Autin beat Bedford Community C team by 40 points.
Revolution Only Just Beginning
Congratulations to our Revolution A, B and C teams on a very successful season winning Divisions 1, 2 and 5 of the Bedford & District Table Tennis League, an improvement of two more division titles over last season. Our D team has improved dramatically from the beginning of the season and will be contenders for the Division 5 title next season whilst the B and C teams will have new challenges. Trophies are normally presented at the league’s AGM but there is interest in having an end of season club social evening when it may well be possible to present the trophies at this time. Practice Night
There is only one match tonight so there are two tables available for any club member to practice on. Non-members are invited to play for £5 per session.

Club Closing Over Xmas
The club will be closed over this Xmas week and next week re-opening on Tuesday 6th January. The season so far has resulted in three of our four teams leading their divisions with every prospect of maintaining this over the rest of the season.
