Ben Dunkley was representing England B at the Senior Schools International weekend held in Ireland and in combination with his team mate, Starry Sheung, they stunned England A by taking Gold in the final. On the way to the final they beat Scotland A 3-2, Jersey A 5-0, Isle of Man 5-0 and Ireland A 5-0 with Ben remaining unbeaten.
The final was a close affair and swung one way and then the other. Starry took the first match for the England B team beating joseph Cooper. Krish Chotai then levelled the match defeating Ben 3-1 in his first loss of the competition. England A then took a 2-1 lead winning the doubles. England B rallied with Ben levelling the match against Cooper. Starry rose to the occasion and defeated Chotai 11-9 in the fifth set for England B to take Gold.
The Individual competition took place on the Sunday, however Ben couldn’t quite repeat his performance earlier and went out to the Scottish No. 1, Nathan Hogg and eventual Silver Medalist, who he’d beaten in the team event.
